My name is Eran Jada. I am a simple person and perhaps a bit ignorant, because I have so many questions and not so many answers. I am starting this blog to learn if I might find some of those answers among the thousands of people in cyberspace. To do this, I will require your help.
Many of the questions I will ask may provoke negative feelings. However, my intention is not to stimulate anger or fear, but to stimulate inquisitiveness to an open mind. I sincerely apologize in advance for any bad feelings my questions or comments may cause you. But, I believe any unease you may feel is a product of your mind and not mine. You may be upset by what I think or say and you may feel I am an idiot. That is your right. But it’s really your problem, not mine. While you are angry at me, I will feel fine and continue with my search for answers.
Yes, some will see that many people do not have an open mind when dealing with certain topics like religion or politics. Not allowing ourselves to speak about certain topics will hinder our ability to learn new things regarding those topics. To accept the status quo without further perusal means we will not search to learn more. I believe that’s what’s wrong with religion; you’re not allowed to search for the truth.
All religious questions that cannot be answered are exempted from answers by telling us we must have faith. By choosing faith instead of inquisition, we no longer pursue the search for truth. We have accepted the given dogma and feel no need to look further for answers. By not looking further, we cannot grow our minds. Is the answer I seek that I should allow my mind to stagnate? I do not believe that, for I have no faith; but, I do have many questions.
No two people agree wholly on many issues in the very same church or synagogue or mosque or whatever organization to which they both belong. If you have the right answers, why does no one else agree completely with you? If there is more to learn, why have you given up the search and decided to have faith?
See? I am starting to ask questions. And since those questions are religious questions, perhaps this blog will start with the topic of religion. I invite you to educate me in why your beliefs are the correct beliefs. And if you won’t say your beliefs are ‘the’ correct beliefs, why have you maintained your beliefs, accepted ‘faith’ as the answer to unanswered questions, and stopped searching for the truth? I have so many questions and surely I must be ignorant for not having as many answers as I do inquiries. Please help me in this journey of learning.
